Supporting self-regulation, focus and emotional wellbeing through ILF Neurofeedback

At Celtic Neurofeedback, we offer a calm, personalised, clinician-led approach to Infra-Low Frequency (ILF) Neurofeedback, a non-invasive, evidence-based method that uses real-time feedback from brain activity to support the brain’s natural capacity for self-regulation.

Empowering Natural Self-Regulation

At Celtic Neurofeedback, we empower individuals to reconnect with their natural rhythm of focus, calm, and emotional balance through Infra-Low Frequency (ILF) Neurofeedback. This gentle, non-invasive, evidence-based method uses real-time feedback from your own brain activity to help it optimise self-regulation, resilience, and wellbeing.

EVIDENCE-BASED BRAIN REGULATION

About Neurofeedback

Infra-Low Frequency (ILF) Neurofeedback measures aspects of brain activity using sensitive EEG equipment and provides instantaneous feedback to support self-regulatory processes. Sensors are placed painlessly on the scalp and translate brain signals into visual or auditory feedback in real time.

Sessions are evidence-based and highly individualised, allowing the brain to adapt and improve functional regulation over repeated sessions. At Celtic Neurofeedback, programmes are integrated with holistic wellbeing strategies, and suitability is considered individually.

How It Works

1. Initial discussion

Explore history, goals, and concerns

2. Gentle sensor placement

EEG sensors measure brain activity, no stimulation involved

3. Relax and watch

Client watches animations or videos while feedback responds to brain activity

4. Real-time feedback

Supports brain adaptation and regulation over repeated sessions

Dr Nistor Becia, MBE, CPsychol, AFBPsS, EuroPsy is a Chartered Clinical and Counselling Psychologist with many years of experience in the NHS, working across mental health, neurodevelopmental assessment, trauma-informed practice, learning disability services and psychological therapies.

Over the course of his career, Dr Becia has assessed and supported many children, young people and adults with a wide range of emotional, developmental, psychological and neurodevelopmental needs. He has experience and training in a variety of evidence-based psychological assessments and interventions used within NHS services and recommended within UK clinical practice, including approaches informed by NICE guidelines.

He is also registered on the British Psychological Society’s Register of Applied Psychology Practice Supervisors, RAPPS, as a supervisor in both Clinical Psychology and Counselling Psychology. Over the course of his professional career, he has supervised many doctoral-level clinical and counselling psychologists, supporting the development of safe, reflective and evidence-based psychological practice.

Dr Becia is an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society, AFBPsS, a professional recognition awarded for significant contributions to the Society or to the advancement of psychology in practice. He is also a EuroPsy Psychologist, reflecting a recognised European standard of education, training and professional competence in psychology.

His work has always been guided by a simple but powerful belief: people should be supported as whole individuals, not just through symptoms or diagnoses. This is the foundation of Celtic Neurofeedback, a service created to bring together psychological understanding, brain-based regulation, compassion and innovation.

Dr Becia is also a trained ILF Neurofeedback Practitioner, having completed specialist UK-based training through BEE Medic, an internationally recognised provider of professional neurofeedback systems and clinical training. BEE Medic supports clinicians with evidence-informed education, high-precision technology and practical training in the safe and responsible use of neurofeedback.

After many years of NHS practice, Dr Becia now leads Celtic Neurofeedback as a new initiative in Wales, offering personalised neurofeedback sessions that are carefully integrated with psychological expertise and a trauma-informed understanding of the nervous system.

Dr Becia’s contribution to inclusive and community-based psychological practice has been recognised by Swansea Bay University Health Board through the Excellence in Equality and Inclusion Award, part of the Living Our Values Awards 2023. This award recognised the Swansea Bay Welcome Response to Ukrainian Refugees, including the development of a community psychology model supporting early screening, assessment, liaison and intervention for people displaced by the war in Ukraine.

Dr Becia was also awarded an MBE in the King’s Birthday Honours for his outstanding work in Swansea Bay University Health Board’s response to supporting refugees from Ukraine. Swansea Bay noted that he used his background and expertise to devise a community psychology model that became central to the Welcome Centre’s work.

Dr Becia is passionate about multicultural practice and the importance of adapting psychological assessment and intervention to today’s increasingly diverse society. His clinical approach is shaped by a deep respect for culture, language, identity and lived experience, recognising that psychological support is most meaningful when it is sensitive to the person’s wider background and context.

Although diversity and multicultural psychology remain central to his professional values, Wales has become home. Over many years of living and working in Wales, Dr Becia has developed a deep love for its landscape, language, communities and culture. He feels fully integrated into Welsh life and proud to contribute to the wellbeing of people and communities across Wales through compassionate, thoughtful and innovative psychological practice.

At the same time, Dr Becia remains deeply connected to his roots and to wider international work. He is involved in international projects and professional networks focused on mental health, trauma-informed practice, workforce development and global health. This international perspective enriches his work, allowing him to bring together local Welsh values, multicultural understanding and wider global learning in a way that feels both grounded and outward-looking.
